I teach acoustic, electric, and bass-guitar in Berlin-Kreuzberg as well as online via Skype.

I teach children and adults, beginners and advanced, in German or English.

The lessons don't follow any specific "concept" but are adapted to the wishes and needs of the student in order to optimally support the development of the respective musical personality. That said, "classically" oriented teaching methods have proven suitable for children under twelve. the older ones can bring their preferred music to the classroom (be it rock, pop, folk, soul, funk, blues, reggae, jazz...), and I'll show them how to play the respective piece or song, or we'll see together which additional skills will be required in order to reach the desired destination, and advance step by step. if wished or needed, we may examine rhythm, ear training, improvisation, music theory, songwriting, sounds...

I'm happy to assist in the selection and purchase of your instrument.

I'll provide teaching materials and play-along tracks where applicable.

"Last christmas I picked up my guitar and promised myself to treat myself to lessons. And along came Julian. From the first moment I felt like I had been dropped in a toy shop and was allowed to pick anything I like. From folk to jazz to pop Julian's mastery of the instrument seems limitless. But more importantly he breaks the complex down systematically into palatable pieces. What seems impossible at the beginning of a class leaves me smiling at the end.

Now, almost a year later not only do I have a bag full of songs to play but I am starting to create my own versions of songs, and as a songwriter my greatest wish yet has been fulfilled: to be able to play what my inner ear hears."

"The most important thing i learned from Julian so far is that it's always about making music, even if i've just started out playing guitar. When we play music together during lessons i get a taste of the sound i'm searching for. That's beautiful."
